We need to create a huge public pushback – but we can’t do it without support from ordinary people.

Already, pressure has helped force a climbdown on the idea that Digital ID would be “compulsory” from the outset. But we and many others remain deeply concerned that, over time, Digital ID could become impossible to avoid if it is tied to public services, travel, banking, employment, or access to online or even physical spaces.

The best time to stop this is now.

We have already been working tirelessly on this issue.

On 25 April, we organised simultaneous SCRAP DIGITAL ID rallies in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast, shortly after projecting the same message onto Edinburgh Castle. Our volunteers have distributed more than 500,000 leaflets warning about the risks of Digital ID across towns and cities throughout the UK.

Last year, before the government had even talked about their scheme, we knew it was coming, and projected “No to Digital ID” on to the House of Parliament. We then took the protest to the Labour conference in Liverpool with more stunts besides.

The commitment is there.

But as a grassroots movement, our resources are limited and stretched thin – and that is why we are asking for your support today.

Together was originally launched in 2021 to oppose another form of Digital ID: vaccine passports. After enormous public pressure and campaigning, that scheme was defeated.

We believe the same level of determination is needed again now.

With a large parliamentary majority behind them, the Government will be expecting limited resistance as they move ahead.

Stopping this will require a major national effort.
